The Legend of Mildred Wells

Hi folks-

Well, it’s been a bit of a grind getting new material out these past two years, but I promise, I’ve never stopped. Here’s a long-overdue update on what’s been happening.

Brigids Gate Press has agreed to re-publish my first three books (collectively known as The Patience of a Dead Man trilogy) into a brand-new, professionally edited (by the talented MJ Pankey) standalone novel retitled “The Legend of Mildred Wells.” I believe it’s coming in November of 2024, but if you catch me at a con I should have copies (I’ll be at the Spooktastic Book Fair in Framingham, Massachusetts on September 7, 2024 and the Merrimack Valley Halloween Book Festival on October 19, 2024 in Haverhill, Massachusetts).

I’m excited for this book because it takes the rookie prose out of what I feel is a strong story. Every paragraph was reworked, scrutinized and simmered to about 155,000 words or 556 pages. No more cliffhangers, no more recaps. If you never read “Patience,” or only made it through Book One, you’re in for a treat.

I’ve also been working with a Brazilian voice actress named Carolla Parmejano to read “Hell on High.” It was important to me to cast a Brazilian in the role because my main character, Juliana, comes from Brazil. Carolla will also read the Portuguese version of HOH entitled “O Inferno nas Alturas.”

I also wrote a 5th novel that I submitted to one of the larger small presses and am waiting to hear back, but to be honest, I’m getting impatient. We’ll see what happens with that one but waiting two years (so I’ve heard with this company) is a tad too long for a dude nearing 59.

Stay tuned, and thanks for reading!

-Mike
